Specializing In The Field Of Dual Diagnosis

Many people suffer from both behavioral health problems such as depression or anxiety and co-occurring chemical dependencies problems. This condition is referred to as dual diagnosis. And, it’s far more prevalent than most people realize.

Facing the double challenge of managing behavioral health problems and recovering from chemical dependency requires special help. Patients need skillful coordination of behavioral health treatment with drug/alcohol education--which is why we establish our Dual-Diagnosis Program. Hampton's unique program is staffed by psychiatrists who are experienced in treating dually-diagnosed patients. With their help, the success of this unique program is growing.

Guiding Patients To Better Mental Health With Education
And Support

One of the most challenging aspects of treating dually diagnosed patients is helping them overcome denial. They often do not acknowledge their dependencies of the seriousness of their disorders. Therefore, one of our first goals is to help patients recognize denial and how it slows the recovery process. Then, we educate patients about their conditions and how to manage them. Patients receive encouragement and support in choosing alternative behaviors that are healthy and productive. And, because self-esteem issues frequently are at the core of behavioral health and chemical dependency problems, Hampton's staff makes positive feedback a priority.

While all our treatment approaches are tailored to the individual needs and functioning level of the patient, certain features are standard for dually diagnosed patients. All patients participate in psychotherapy, including individual, group, and family therapy. In all cases, patients participate in 12-step programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous.
